In Australia the Project is based at the Climate, Society and Environment Research Centre (C-SERC) at the University of Technology Sydney in collaboration with academics from the Department of Anthropology and the Department of Political Economy at the University of Sydney and at the Fenner School of Environment and Society at the Australian National University.

The project is conducted in partnership with the Department of History at the University of Chicago, the Centre for Interdisciplinary Area Studies at Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg, the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies in Potsdam, Germany, and with the Centre for Policy Research in New Delhi, India.
